July Checklist

Planning for Success

  • What does each child need to learn? What skill to they need to master? What habits need to be formed? What home improvement projects need to be done? What cleaning jobs need doing? and so on.
  • The answers to above questions are your Goals, and will be part of the bigger picture: the Dreams you have for yourself and your family.
  • Write down each Goal at the top of a separate paper. Use a three ring binder and notebook paper, or a spiral notebook.
  • Under each Goal, write down everything that comes to mind that you can do to fulfill that goal (no particular order necessary). This is your Step List (steps that, when taken, will fulfill your goals).
  • Choose one thing from your Step List.
  • Get started on that one thing, putting the starting date on the left.
  • When finished with that one step, put the date to the right. Cross off with one line when you have completed that step.
  • Go on to the next step.
  • Keep your notebook always at hand and work on your goals and steps daily for the best results.
  • You can work on several steps and goals concurrently.

Just writing above checklist got me going! I didn't even start listing what I needed to do but immediately started on a big project and am seeing much progress.

In my book, Easy Homeschooling Techniques, I have details for planning--from "Dreams" down to the daily "To-Do List."

Here I have simplified the technique for you.

Dreams and Goals are the results you desire for yourself and your family. Step Lists are the are the path to reach your Goals and Dreams. Most important is a consistent and meditative time in the Word of God.

Procrastination

To be always intending to live a new Life, but never to find time to set about it: this is as if a man should put off Eating and Drinking, and Sleeping from one day and night to another, till he is starved and destroyed. -Tillotson
