August Checklist

Chore Scheduling

We all know that we should spend one-on-one time with our children. I also know how difficult that can be when one has several children in a row! Here is an idea we used when our children were younger. The benefits of "one-on-one" are tremendous! For example, you will have better behaved children who are secure in themselves because you recognize them as special. We've even noticed that it helps with our 15 year old son.

Each day of the month (indicated by numbers) you will be doing a different activity with a different child, training them in important tasks and feeding their spirit, while maintaining your sanity. Because each knows his turn is coming, he is willing to wait.

  • Get a calendar.
  • At the top or bottom of the days of the week, write the tasks or activities for that day.
  • Then write the names of your children in sequence throught the days of the month. I've gone through the days of the month saying, "Kathryn, Michelle, James, John," until the month is filled out.
  • If you have more children, just continue on into the next week, keeping the order of the children the same, skipping a day if necessary so the same child does not do the same task the next week.
  • Enjoy your time getting to know those special children!
